For a while in the early to mid 1990s I played the drums with ‘Folk-Rock’ band, Bourgeois Zoo. The band consisted of Pete (Jobbo) Jobson (vocals, accordion, whistles harmonica)
Pete Gray (vocals, guitar, harmonica) Chris Blantern (vocals, mandolin, mandocello, whistles) Andy Parker (vocals, bass, guitar) Ben Brown (fiddle) Richard Hildebrand (drums, guitar, vocals)
After we parted company Pete and Andy formed the highly successful band 'Scuppered' along with Dave Cork and John Hodge and I went on to be a founder member of No Ginger.
Here are some tracks recorded from a concert performed by Bourgeois Zoo at Buxton Fringe Festival.
On the original recordings the bass and drums don't cut through at all due to the fact we omitted to feed them through the PA system.
So for an experiment I have digitally enhanced the music using various excellent computer programs and remixed them using Cubase.
This was an incredibly time consuming (note by note) job and critics may say it removes the authentic live sound.
I’m not sure so I’ll leave it to the listener to decide.
Any comments (positive or negative) will be welcome (but not if you have crap speakers).
